This is one very interesting cake with a lot of depth. If you like spice cakes, and we do, you will love this. It was a fun cake to make and dang I have really trained John well! He has become a really great Sous Chef. Thanks for a great cake Sally.

I'm using the Grains of Paradise in the Swiss Steak recipe posted several days ago. I

I lightly ground the whole seeds, and rubbed them into the tenderized cube steaks, before flouring.

Recipe was very good, I served it over real mashed spuds with real roasted garlic

and loved the Grains of Paradise....should have added more to the cubed steaks, however.

Being the super cake challenged that I am...

... I think it would be better to refer to this cake as "Alton Brown's Apple Spice Cake"

it is borderline dangerous to associate a cake with my name. The universe will exercise its karma on you...

Glad to see it in the tried and true, though... it is super delicious!

This needs to go into T&T Sally. Will you put it there and just

name it Alton's? You are the one who brought it to our attention. Thanks for that! I had a piece with my coffee and intense is the best inscription! Delicious.

~smile~ It's easy. Just go to the top and click on "All Forums"

and scroll all the way down to "Cakes" and click. Click on "Post New". From there you can do how ever you like. Just make sure you put the name in the top box. Then you can put the recipe in the body and add a link to the post at your blog if you like. I always appreciate photos cause I eat with my eyes but you don't have to. I've linked here to the section for cakes if that helps.

DONE! My cake is right under Meryl's Strawberry Coffee Cake...

it made me sad...

if I have time tonight I'll bake that cake in her honor and bring to our department tomorrow.
