Did you ever have a night when things weren't going right, life in general, and then

you have your big fat cat named Mookie decide it is time for him to play the piano; over and over again. It just made me smile big time. It's the little things.

My female belgian sheepdog who died years ago was the only WITTY dog

I ever had. She always cracked me up, no matter my mood.

We have had a rough year in our extended family, over and beyond the pressure from...

...the economy on our finances. (Most of us know how that tastes!)

This Christmas was, by unanimous opinion, easily one of the most enjoyable in a long, long time.

Don't get me wrong. We ALWAYS enjoy Christmas, Thanksgiving and all that goes with it. This one was special, though. Everyone was "into it" and we all did our best to show our love for one-another by doing the "little things" Dawn mentions.

I'm thankful for a loving family and friends, and so much more. I'm also thankful for this forum and all the friends I've made here, some going back 15 years now! This place makes me smile and gives me so much pleasure. It goes far beyond cooking of course. The people here make it special.

You're right, Michall.

We had a tougher year than we've had in a long time. It started with losing our beloved Harlequin and a fish that had been with us for 15 years and 3000 miles. Our son totaled his truck and had to have an emergency appendectomy. We moved the MIL out of her home and to her sister's. And after 2 years of medical drama, in October I had back surgery and not without complications.

By the time the holidays arrived, we were spent physically, emotionally and financially. We did not go all out on the decorating and baking. BUT this year was one of the best Christmases we can remember. Our son became engaged to a young lady that he has been besotted with since he was 10. She was already like a daughter to us, this just made it official, and she joined us for Christmas. The wedding is a year or two away, they want their degrees first or at least be close.

And now we get ready to celebrate 25 years of marriage. We enjoy counting the blessings more than ever before.
