Dining at Taillevent in Paris, thanks to Sally's blog, is a great read. Check it out.

Wow, she has courage photographing her meal there! I'm reading a book about a meal there

A Meal Remembered. It's wonderful! Makes me want to go to Paris, Reason #781.

About the photos...

I was not going to do it, but two tables around us were taking pictures. I still felt a bit intimidated, so decided to ask the maitre for permission, explaining I had a food blog.

He was absolutely wonderful, and offered to take a photo himself in case I thought it would provide a better angle... can you imagine? smileys/smile.gif

I swear, that place is unbelievably great!

We are back home now, not sure when we'll be able to travel to Paris again, but would love to go back for more...

Thanks, Michael....

Glad you enjoyed the post...

by the way, I decided to add a note about having asked permission to take the photos, it does seem a bit rude to take a camera to such a place, isn't it?

Sally, I know you to be a well-mannered, thoughtful and ...

...loving person, who, in spite of her gracious nature, has a penchant for fearless adventure.

All things considered, I figured you were taking photos either 'with permission', or you had mounted a mini digital camera in an incredibly stylish heirloom brooch and did it 'on the sly'.

I was leaning toward the former, but secretly holding out hope the latter was the case.

Michael

You have such Courage! Your photos are gorgeous. I'm drooling on the keyboard...

I've been in restaurants and gotten such dirty looks and remarks from waiters, so I'm a scaredy-cat.

What a remarkable meal, I think your blog is better than the book actually.... Would you like it? I'm almost done.

LOL!!!!

Well, MIchael - there are TWO photos I did not include on my blog, but I'll share what they are about here, to give the right perspective to "well-mannered" smileys/smile.gif

Keep in mind, the table cloths were pristine, right? What did Sally do? Spilled a nice looking drop of sauce right at the edge of the table! Hubby just laughed, saying "there she goes...."

I was able to hide it for the rest of the meal, by keeping my hand nicely placed over it - survived even the waiter collecting crumbs... We took two photos, one hiding the mess, the other revealing it... smileys/smile.gif

So sweet of you to offer!

I did not know about this book at all - is it specific about Taillevent?

I have a question about your site Sally,

I see the names of the blog commentors, but I don't see the authors of the blogs. What am I missing?

In this case....

... all the articles are written by me, with a few exceptions, my husband was a 'guest' blogger in two of the articles: one about a pie for July 4th, another about avocados.

Some bloggers invite people to write guest articles, but I guess you need to be "rich and famous" in the food blogging world to be able to do that smileys/smile.gif

So, yes, everything published in the Bewitching is my own writing.

Thanks, Traca...

that was such a nice evening, I remember it too well, it was in 2007, we had just a few days in town, and that was our last walk around the neighborhood where we used to live. I love to look up the tower from close by, the impact of its height is just breath taking that way....

Yes, it's called A Meal Observed, I'm almost done with dessert.

I'm going to see if any of your dishes were close to what they ate.

Please PM me your address and I'll pop it in the mail next week!
