Dining in Paris......with children

OK I may lose my mind on this trip, but we are going to Paris in April(Husband, 2 sons 8 / 11). Then on to Geneva, Switzerland to stay with friends and show oldest son where he was born.

If it was just DH and I, I could come up with a list a mile long of places I'd like to eat. But other than living in patisseries and the occasional mcdonalds (gasp) I am curious about dining in Paris with children.

Anyone have recommendations? Older son is willing to try things and should be OK. Youngest son.... well he is another story. We are starting now to try to get him to eat different things (offering bribes as we go).

How are Parisians in restaurants with kids? In Geneva, they'd rather you bring your dog to the restaurant than your children. While we aren't on a 5 star restaurant budget, I would still love to have a couple meals to remember smileys/smile.gif

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on where to eat, and what to see with children. DH and I have been before "pre-children", so we are adjusting our expectations of what we will see, and how much we'll be able to.

my grandsons in Geneva are just about the same age. They eat

almost everything, as do their father and mother. School lunch with the madam of the lunchroom bearing down has helped this as well. Otherwise they love to eat out. Easy in Geneva with fondue, raclette, lots of roast chicken and frittes, pasta on every menu.

Janet - we lived in Geneva for 2 years

There I feel a little more comfortable going out, know what to expect and have places I can't wait to get back to and know what the kids might be willing to eat.

How long have they been there? Our neighbors just moved there this summer and have 3 children.

They have been there for 12 years......

My son is an attorney at the UN and my daughter in law (from Barcelona) is a translator. They have 3 boys 10,8,4. They all go to public school in Satigny, about a 10 minute train ride from Geneva. A nice village. I go over 2 or 3 times a year and love it. As you probably know, only one thing is served at lunch in school and it is a hot meal. They are hungry so they eat it. They have learned a lot this way. When I go over the boys ask for meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Their American gene showing through smileys/smile.gif
