Discovered any great new wines lately?

My two newest discoveries are from the same producer:

Raymond Estates Merlot and RJ Collection (Raymond Estates) Chardonnay.

I usually prefer Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, but after sampling their Merlot and Chardonnay, I had to buy a few bottles! Oh, and they are not expensive - they run here at about $15.99, but were on sale for $10.99.

Edit: I just checked these wines online and the average price is about $11.99, so my local store is somewhat overpriced. Although, I'm not paying any shipping, so it may equal out.

Yes. Had a Houghton (Australian) SB that was lucious.

Unfortunately at a restaurant so don't know the price.
Also if you can find it a Kermit Lynch Cotes du Rhone. It was so much fuller bodied than most CdR--$10/bottle.

Rosenblum Zinfandel! I try to find good wines under $15.00....

and this is my new find. It's one of the best (red) zinfandels I've found and goes so well with summer BBQ ribs and pork dishes! Or just sipping, with cheese and crackers. I also like Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc.

Why yes I have...

Very much into whites this summer:

La Spinetta--Moscato d'Asti (Piedmont, Italy)

Trimbach--Gewürztraminer (Alsace, France)

Domäne Wachau--Terrassen Federspiel Riesling (Wachau Danube Valley, Austria)

The last one might be hard to find, but the other two are stocked at most big wine suppliers.

riesling

I am drinking a Wolfberger Riesling 2004 (Alsace, France) at the moment. It's great, affordable stuff for Riesling lovers - according to wine-searcher.com, it is selling in the US for around 12 dollars (bought for 5.30 euros in a Loire grocery store last week - super value!). Light and refreshing but with more body than the German Rieslings (as is usual for Alsace wines). Wolfberger is a very dependable, affordable producer, especially for the bubbly Cremant d'Alsace. As for sauvignon blanc (of which it seems there are a lot of fans here, inc. me), I always recommend Brancott (Montana) Reserve Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand - it is also about 12 dollars, I think.
cheers, Bonnie

Bonnie, thanks for the recommendation,

I'll have to look for that one. I totally agree with you, the Alsatian Rieslings are wonderful (and a little on the pricy side here however : (

Had a god one in Chicago this weekend

We were in Chicago for a long weekend. We went to dinner at Le Colonial - YUM We had a Pinot Noir from Oregon - A to Z winery. It was quite good. Later we found it for sale at a high end food store (without a high end price - 17.99)
