It gave me an excuse to get a wicked, but yummy, ham biscuit and coffee and then get back into the Saturday morning line at the PO. I sent brownies and peanut brittle and assorted toilet articles, gum, mints, etc. All padded with individual packs of Kleenex. I was thinking though that they will have so much all at once and maybe someone could figure out how to spread it out over a longer period.

I sent mine yesterday, and asked the postal clerk how long it would take to get to Iraq

He said it would probably get there in five days, so hopefully we hear from at least one of them when the boxes get there.

The guy at the post office said he when he was in Iraq, they got cookies too! I asked him which ones held up the best, and he said it didn't matter because ALL types were appreciated - they were just happy to be remembered.

Michael, thanks again for letting us be a part of this!

that is very quick...

I think mine might take weeks... maybe they'll be New Year's cookies!

Do you guys in the US have to pay to ship the parcels to US soldiers?

The ones from here to Australian troops are free to ship, I thought that was very good...

We do have to pay, but it's the same rates as domestic mail, if you use a flat rate box...

USPS has two flat rate boxes, one like a shoe box, and the other like a shirt box. The rates to send these boxes are $8.95, no matter what the weight.

And since the military addresses are treated like domestic mail, we can use those boxes.

I can only imagine how much you had to pay to ship your box smileys/frown.gif

Thank you for your kindness smileys/smile.gif
