Do any of you watch Anne Burrell?? She had a Swiss Chard and Ricotta Crostata today

I was channel-surfing and came across her show. She was making this recipe. It looked good...

...but we (my wife and I) are of the same mind as you are: she drives us crazy! I actually changed the channel before she got too far into it. Wifey said, "Thank you!"

There hasn't been one of Ann's recipes that I have tried that

haven't turned out delicious! She's informative and I usually learn a little something from her each time I watch. I'll take her "quirks" over Giada's "Haaaaaa's" any day, I can be sure the food will be great.

If I never saw Anne or Giada or 99 percent of the Food Network "stars" again, I wouldn't miss them.

My parents were on a cruise last year. Anne was there with her friend. They did do some cooking

classes. (Mom could not justify the $$). She said that anne and her friend were developing quite the reputation of closing down the late night bars. M&D did run into them quite a few times, and described them as "fun"

Agree re: comments about recent cooking shows. I actually like some of the recipes on the website, but just dislike how they all seem to be replicating RR on air. Talk non-stop, make up words, etc... And then there are those that wear clothes that match their curtains or wear the lowest cut shirts!!

I used to get inspired to try a new recipe from watching a cooking show.... Not anymore, just get a lil stressed.....

Thanks for listening, I feel better now....

BUT, having just ranted, I do appreciate how they are creating an environment where it is "cool" to cook.

Barb, you mention the single greatest contribution of FN, I think.

Carrying on the legacy of Julia Child in bringing cooking into the culture as vital, fun, and "do-able" -in spite of themselves.

Michael

PS: Julia did it so much better though...

last wkend I caught the Baking with Julia episode with Martha Stewart making wedding cake. classic.
