Do we dare to hope that the Food Network is getting back to some better cooking shows?

I watched the first of Ina Garten's new shows today....she had lunch at the White House with Michelle Obama. Fun show to watch and to see the glitz and lavish lifestyle our president and family surround themselves with. Very interesting to watch the people, see how they were dressed and hear the comments they made. The Pioneer Woman is filming a block of new shows beginning this week and I think I saw Valerie Bertinelli somewhere in there too. I have lots of fun watching the body language of her husband, catching his expressions, and interaction with her. As winter sets it, it would be nice to see some fun cooking shows rather than the boring competition shows they have now and none of the fun cooks/chefs I enjoyed watching, all for different reasons.

Speaking about the White House...

Have you seen Letitia Baldridge's book about her years as Jacqueline Kennedy's Social Secretary? A treasure of a lost time gone by for sure. The elegance of those last glimmering days of the old formal dinner parties, white-tie, top hats, and glamour.

I think Kennedy is the last president who routinely wore white-tie for formal occasions.
