Do you have a favorite cake you make/eat for birthdays every year?

For example DDH always wanted the Snickerdoodle Cake as his birthday cake, so that became the traditional cake I always made for him. Growing-up mine wasn't cake at all, we all wanted mom to make her chocolate pie, so that was my traditional every year birthday cake.

Do you have a certain one you make for someone else, or choose for yourself that you repeat every year or do you change it up?

mine was always lemon cake with lemon frosting. my sis had Frankfurter Krantz

DH wants blueberry pie. My girlfriends want coconut cake. For me - chocolate anything!

I make Chocolatier's Devil's Food Cake w/ chocolate ganache every year for my husband's birthday.

I grew up with a German Marble Cake my Mom made. All of us wanted it...

...over any other cake, so it was really our family birthday cake, and it usually made an appearance at Christmas too.

I inherited my Mom's bundt pan and still make the Marble Cake in it. I was thrilled when I recently found an exact duplicate of her pan in really fine condition on eBay. I bought it so both my boys can have one once I'm gone. I'm sure they'll flip a coin over which one of them gets my Mom's original pan, but, hey, that's the best I could do.

I make a Banana Cake with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting for a good friend of ours, and a Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting for her husband, on each of their respective birthdays.

I make Tiramisu for DH every year because he loves it. I never have time to celebrate my own

birthday, - I don't think i have celebrated my day in like 15 years.

I used to ask for the St. Honore cake each year and my sister loved a German chocolate cake

now I can have wacky cake with ganache or blackberry pie, my only two options. I can have panna cotta but, you know, how often does one want that and it's not very celebratory.

Ditto here Eva. I have't had a BD cake in 25 years. At this point, candles would outweight the cake.

I think you deserve a few virtual cakes baked in your honor on your next bday

if I was not such a lousy cake baker, I would volunteer to bake a layered cake of your choice. But since I am cake-challenged, I promise to do a cake more suited to my abilities on your day!
