Do you think 1 1/2 recipes of a three layer cake is enough for 25 to 30 people?

By request, I making a tiered cake for the twins next-door 7th birthday. A tiered Swiss meringue buttercream minions cake, yes I have spoiled them. In return I am the best cake baker in the entire world. By wedding cake cutting standards it seems like it might be enough, but it's a birthday not a wedding, so I don't know.

(Also I'm much more strict about RSVPs. They have 22 yes, 3 maybe and 14 not yet replied. In my world I wouldn't let there be 14 not yet replied because we need count for food people! So this leaves me with a bit of dilemma on how much cake to make as well. So I'm planning 25 to 30?)

I'd think it needs at least 2. Isn't it about 12 slices per cake? I imagind the family

would LOVE your leftovers.

Maria, due to its being 3 layers, you can get 16 slices per each 3-layer cake so I would make 2 recs

I ended up making a double recipe, but had leftovers...

The top tier was a 3 layer six inch and that fed a lot of the kids. Normally an half recipe gets me a two layer six inch cake, but the full recipe got the 3rd layer plus 13 cupcakes! So we had extra.

Given the extra we didn't need to follow the linked guide, but I saved it as it shows how to cut 22 servings from an 9-inch round cake!

I apologize--I didn't realize you intended to slice like a wedding cake. No wonder U had leftovers.

I envisioned 3 layers sitting directly on top of one another which is how I slice assemble cakes when I cater or serve family. BTW, that is an excellent document of slicing instructions along with the slicing diagram from Earlene's Cakes.
