Does anybody have any experience with browning ground meat in the microwave?....

I honesstly have not tried it, would depend on what it's used for?? Although it involves heat,

I usually cook ground meat off in the oven. Crumble it into a roasting pan and keep stirring. If there seems to be a lot of fat left I put it in a colander.
I get it in 10# chubs and usually cook off the whole thing and freeze what isn't used if it's all not needed for dish I'm making.
Several breakfast things need ground meat--Joe's Special, Taco Scramble or Omelet or??
In the microwave, wouldn't it be more steamed than browned??

you know, I am going to give that a try, even though am having trouble with brown and microwave in

the same sentence??
Thanks Dawn, saved link.
And am thinking some things like chili? you need the taste of the meat that is browned in a skillet or oven??

Have heard from several, that meatloaf in the microwave is wonderful. And, with a sauce, color doesn't matter--now, am thinking meatballs might work if they were going to be in sauce. But I think in soups, like albondigas, you need that "real" browned effect?

Please do let us know--I really don't use my microwave as much as I could.
We're always learning!

I want to try making chili without cooking it............

I want to use hot Italian turkey sausage
instead of ground beef, and I was thinking
about mixing everything together and putting
it in the refrigerator for a couple of days
to let the flavors marry.

It's an experiment, and I'm prepared for the
possibility that it will be a failure.

It's just that when it's 110 degrees outside,
I find myself saying "no" to cooking, and "yes"
to Taco Bell.

Without cooking the tomatoes at all? So just cook the sausage,

then add all the normal chili ingredients, but not cook it, just refrigerate it and then serve it as is? Or would you cook the veggies with the sausage? Or would the veggies be crispy? I am having trouble wrapping my brain around this one. Do you have a crockpot you could cook it in, or a rice cooker? The worst thing that could happen is that you don't like it and you could freeze it until the weather cools off and then cook it later.

Love the crockpot idea. I have brought mine out for the extreme heat days. (Not even close to 110!

I can not imagine how uncomfortable that must be!
