Does anyone know if dried fruits are, in general, washed before drying and packaging?

I just bought another pack of Kirkland Montmorency cherries (from Washington) and eat them by the handsful. I am so impressed with the realness of the flavour but given how much I'm eating, am beginning to worry if I am digesting wads of chemicals as well.

raisins

blueberries

dates

figs

all that other stuff

And might it be country-dependent?

My uncle used to grow and dry apricots in a tray in the orchard. Never washed but sulphured to ...

retain color.
