Does Anyone Use Costco Sugar or Flour (the BIG bags)?

Does 10 lb bag of sugar count? Here it is Imperial brand. I don't use much sugar except for humming

bird feeders so have never bought larger and wouldn't have a container large enough to hold it.

I use C&H from Costco and Central Mills Organic Flour

They use to carry Central Mills Organic Unbleached Baker's Craft flour, but now it's just AP. I saw they had new types of big bags, including a bread flour but haven't tried it -- need to research the company, which I promptly forgot the name of.

I use C&H because it's cane, not beet sugar.

we use the Central Mills flour as well. when we took the sourdough class, the baker recommended it.

Yes, it's great flour

I just miss the Baker's Craft they use to have at Coscto for my bread (pretty sure some of the Breadtopia folks talked them into carrying it). I may have to make a trip to the mill (over the hills and through the city) in the north bay to get their flour now for bread. I used their AP for all my cookie baking over the holidays.

For quite some time, beet sugar was used without mentioning it. If the bag says *pure sugar* it

probably isn't *pure sugar cane*.

Beet sugar is finer, compacts more and doesn't give the same results.

99% of sugar sold in the US is grown and processed here. There is a huge tariff placed...

...on sugar grown anywhere else in the world, so as to protect US sugar growers.

Beets are much easier (hence cheaper) to grow in our climate, since sugar cane requires semi-tropical temps. (Hawaii is the best place to grow sugar cane in the US. "C & H. Pure cane sugar. From Hawaii. (from Hawaii) Growin' in the sun. (growin' in the sun)", etc......).

So, as you say, unless is says "Pure Cane Sugar", you can rightfully assume it is beet sugar.

Hi, deb! I use 25-lb bags of Domino Sugar and 10-lb bags of Gold Medal flour--Sam's Club is source

Oh No- we belong to Costco; not Sams....may have to look into rejoining

thank you so much for telling me this. May I ask how much a 25 lb. is at your Sams? I've been buying the 10 lb. bags at Walmart

Oh, and Michael, I wanted to tell you good luck with

your Cardinals Sunday. I was sooooo hoping my Seahawks would be kicken' your butt but it wasn't to be...sniff....

I forgot to say - a local coffee store is starting to sell my filigree heart sugar cookies next week

well - sort of local. About 30 miles South but we are in the area weekly. I can also ship there them via USPS PRIORITY very cheaply (and I love that the post office picks up the box at my house when they deliver the mail).

Very excited.!

Costco: C&H 25lbs is $4.xx and CM Organic flour 20lbs is $13.xx they have less $ flour though

they have C&H brown sugar too, but it's light brown and I only use dark so didn't notice the price -- it looked to be about 25 lb bag.

They also have 50lb bags of reg and bread flour, but it's a new brand that I forgot the name of. It used to be conagra. Also, having bread flour is new.

Aw thanks so much Colleen!

I'm sure I've asked you this before - but where do you live? If we are somewhat close I'd love to meet for lunch/coffee sometime:)
