I had problems with an early ScanPan.
The non-stick sure didn't work, and the black inside of the pan turned a gray color. I talked to a shop that sold the newer generation ScanPans and they told me to boil water with dish washer detergent in the pan and then to re-season it with vegetable oil. It cleaned the pan and returned it to its origial state. It heated beautifully, but had to be kept oiled and seasoned for sauteing. The newer ones have a different surface that is much better.
