Does Arby's have cinnamon scented potpourri in the morning?

I was out on the highway, stopped for gas, Arby's is next door so I went for an iced tea. When I opened the door, this wall of Cinnamon hits me upside the head, like Grandma's been in the kitchen baking all morning. And there on the counter was a case of "GOURMET" cinnamon rolls. So I took the bait and bought one. One bite and I spit it out. Awful, stale, plastic, chemical filled swirled swill.

Now I'm wondering: Where did that scent come from? It must have been a pan of simmering potpourri in the back. It certainly wasn't the "Gourmet" dreck they were pushing.

PS: Also, the "Brewed Lipton Tea" was instant! I tossed it out as well. Ick. Do they sell ***anything*** real?

I knew a man that worked at IFF (Inernational Flavors and Fragrances)...You would not believe (m)

the stories...
As you saw first hand...Breakfast Rolls, Cookies, new cars scents, etc...Incredible!

My COI (culinary olfactory innocence) has not been the same since...

I went through a display at the Orlando Science Center. They had a dozen bottle filled with nothing but chemicals....and yet, when testing them, you smelled apples, bananas, cinnamon, lemons, etc.

Since then, I've not believed an aroma was real unless I make it myself.

That reminds me of a time when I was considering buying a certain...

..."gently used" car and remarking to the salesman about the faint but odd smell inside. He insisted that it still had "that new car smell"...but to me it had the faint odour of manure(and having side-stepped many a manure pile in my grandparents cow pasture, I should know ;o) Anyway, after some discussion, he confessed that they had used a "new car" spray to enhance it's appeal... Either someone had mislabeled that spray can or my olfactory sense was completely out of whack...lol!

My wife says that living with...

...our two boys and myself has caused her to confront the 'reality' you speak of on many an occasion, and she's not pleased.

I know - 'new car smell' - yeah right!....

every time I go to the car wash I have to scream at them NOT to put that stuff in my car. Sure doesn't smell like any new car I ever bought. Besides, who wants a new car smell? It's probably the off gassing of the carpets, fabrics and plastics and twenty years from now we'll find out just how bad it is for us.

I hear you...and I don't like using aerosols either...more stuff for potential health problems...

A nurse fried once told me they piped chicken soup smell into the air vents in her hospital...

They basically had a pot of soup going all the time with a duct into the air vents that fed the whole hospital - apparently smelling the chicken soup made people feel better!

Oddly enough, I had never noticed it until she told me and I went especially tohave a sniff, and yes, there it was!

Not sure about Arby's (did you know that name is actually R-B's - for "roast beef?!) but...

there is a local carmelcorn place downtown that starts pumping out the smell while it is cooking the buttery syrup in the nice weather.

Now that just isn't fair!

And all the coffee roasters in town, at least up here. At least that aroma is something "real", but

I swear, sometimes it smells like skunk---maybe burnt coffee beans?
