Does it have to be a round 16" baking pan?

This looks like a pizza stone - probably to give a crispy texture. It's

not really a baking pan but a flat stone. You could probably just use a large cookie sheet and form the dough into a circle. It might change the texture a little.

Use a large baking sheet--it doesn't have to be a pan

It says to put it on a pizza stone (I don't see "pan") but you can use a large cookie sheet sine it is not a crust that needs to be up against an edge. It's crescent roll dough and will stay put.
By the way you can make a large pizza stone using unglazed quarry tiles from Home Depot. I think they are 6X6 and you can form them into a square. When not in use they can stay stacked in a corner of the oven. Cheap stone and if you break one, just replace it!

Thank you for posting! Saved this recipe; looks easy and a good way to use up . . .

some canned sour cherries I have; all I need to do is thicken the cherries and their juice to pie thickness.

And as it stands now the recipe looks really easy, and tasty too!

Yes very easy, made it for DW's Bunco party but will be a breakfast item from now on
