Doing my Amazon One-Stop Christmas Shopping and discovered a great price on a set of Henckel knives.

13- piece Henckel knives and knife block for $45 marked down from $122 retail.

In the cart it goes...Every time I'm at my brother's house trying to use their old dull cheapo knives I always think, "next year, they're getting knives for Christmas." Fa-la-la-la-la.

Note: These aren't the high-end German made Henckel's, these are made in China, but it's a nice set for the price and will be light years ahead for my "knive" challenged brother and his wife.

Darn! Both daughters would LOVE this,

but I'm too superstitious to give knives as a present. They could pay me a quarter for them, I suppose.

Dh gave me knives for Christmas many years ago. Shop owner insisted he give me a penny to

compensate for bad luck. I came across that penny yesterday whilst cleaning out desk drawer.

The compensation works. I gave a lovely doppio mezzaluna as a shower gift but charged

the bride a dime first. We're still good friends. (although I've had a whack of bad luck...hmmm in which direction does this work? Maybe I should have paid her)(And my husband gave me a knife every year....I have to rethink this whole bad luck thing)
