Don't tell my housekeeper!

Well, I'm working on being flexible. Yesterday our housekeeper surprised us by repainting

the bathroom. It was really bad--dingy and crumbling--but we plan to have it remodelled someday so we've just left it. Well Martha asked if she could have her husband patch the wall behind the sink before the wedding, and I said "of course." That was just a trick to get in there and re-do the whole thing.

The room had been light terra cotta and pale grey. Martha thought she was buying the same colors when she picked out sky blue and baby blanket pink. Yikes! It looks like a baby nursery, all ready for Angelina Jolie's twins. People will be thinking it's a shotgun wedding.

It was such a nice gesture and they worked so hard we don't dare change it. And I admit it looks better than it did with the plaster crumbling. But those colors! I'm taking deep breaths.

Meanwhile, everything is sort of falling into place. We're having more people than we first thought, including houseguests, and I just realized I have to feed all our helpers and out-of-towners the night before. (making baked ziti and freezing it.) I'm feeding the lawn every few days and begging the flowers to grow. We still need rings and, since we both live in sneakers full time, new shoes. I also need to learn how to use an ipod and rent a sound system--DJ's are expensive!

Dance floor, tables, linens, china, cutlery are all rented. For the cake we found a pastry shop whose specialty is Napoleans, and they do them in big rounds for wedding cakes.

Whew, gotta run. Thanks for asking!
