Duke's Mayonnaise redux

Well, to prove it IS a southern tradition not to be meddled with, in the new Garden and Gun magazine (yes!) there is a full page add with a picture of a jar of Duke's and the caption

Taste why we have

MORE FANS

Than the South

IN AUGUST

Happened by a gallon of Duke's at BiLo the other day for $10.99!!

Curious about the sell by date--how far out do the jars go?

I'm trying to gauge how much is "too much" for us. I don't use a ton of mayo, but am curious to try Dukes after reading so much about it here.
Thanks!
M

My Dukes jars say 3/17 about the same as Best Foods, they also sell

in packs of two if you want less. Not sure if shipping is free however, check out the site.

Cook's Country and Cook's Illustrated both have endorsed Blue Plate as their fav, said it's made

with egg yolks instead of whole eggs. CC article also said Dukes is made with cider vinegar which gives it a sharper taste. I don't have a Hellmann's right now to check, but surely it uses some kind of vinegar.
