I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Easter dinner went well. The big hit was the key lime pie. Not exactly easy, but not too difficult. Also the chick eggs were cute and by the 10th one I got the gist of it!
Watched SU basketball win over Marquette Saturday afternoon! Now, the Final Four next Saturday. Orange Crush (of course...) and spicy hummus and crab wonton cups were very good.
We went to the Farmer's Market again on Saturday. I thought it would be packed, but very disappointed to see only a few vendors out. Where were all the flowers?! It used to be a big deal here. Bought mums, but, well...
Subbed lemon-asparagus pasta salad for the mashed potatoes that I had planned for Easter dinner. So good! Thanks to Olga_D for her recipe.
I will never order another cake from anyplace - I'll buy what I see. I saw a very cute chocolate-frosted Easter egg-shaped pound cake at a local bakery and decided on that instead of baking butter cookies (too many other things going on last week). It looked just like an old-fashioned choc-covered candy egg with a little rosebud on top, like we used to get, but nothing ever ends up like I request... wrong colors, ugly huge multiple flowers, etc. I ended up paying $3 more than what the quoted price was (then she took an attitude with me instead of saying she was sorry!) for a fluorescent-colored cake that looked nothing like the original. Argggh. Just had to vent!!
I did score several bags of half-priced Reese's peanut butter egg miniatures this morning - gotta last us until Halloween when the little pumpkins come out! Somehow I managed to pass by the reduced Easter flowers - a dozen roses for $6. Mouse would probably get 'em anyway ;o)
