Eggs 2...Not a good egg week.

So I gave up on making dressed eggs and decided to make egg salad. Cut the eggs in two and scooped them out.

Then I realized I had no more eggs for breakfast, so...

I put two hardboiled eggs in a bowl of water and put them in the microwave.

WRONG!

I don't know which was worse, the sound of the simulataneus EGGSplosion, or cleaning up the aftermath.

Don't try this at home!

Ya know, I just hardboiled a dozen eggs from my chickens. . .

and I tried something that seemed to help: put eggs in big sauce pan, covered with plenty of water, brought them carefully to a boil, cooked for 5 minutes (Used timer), immediately turned off heat, covered pan and let set for 15 minutes (used timer) then immediately drained, covered with ice and then ran cold faucet water to cover well. Let sit till ice melted and water was still cold. Then I started to peel. First one or two, peeled fine (no air space in the egg, very fresh). Next peeled pretty suckaliciously , but the next I tried cracking the egg very well under running water and then cracked it again under hot faucet water. This actually seemed to help--maybe the shell expanded while the cold egg did not?

Julia has you plunge the chilled eggs back into boiling water to expand the shell a bit

before peeling. I've never gotten that extreme.

I had to chuckle- that happened to me a few years ago. No micro for eggs anymore in this house.

I'm laughing now too!

I had cleaned the microwave (^#%@%@@@$^) and left for orchestra rehearsal. When I got home, Oksana was here doing the weekly cleaning and when I came into the house, she said:

Reeeeeeeetchard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vat deed you do to Microwave!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently it was NOT up to Russian standards!
