1/2 cup butter or margarine

1/2 cup Crisco

11/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3 tablespoons sour cream

3 cups sifted flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix butter (or margarine), Crisco and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time. In separate bowl, mix baking soda and sour cream until baking soda is completely dissolved. Add to butter mixture. In separate bowl, sift flour and salt together. Add to wet batter and mix well. Dough will be sticky and can then be used as drop dough, if desired. If too sticky, add more flour until it can be rolled  ¼-inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.

FROSTING

1 pound of margarine or butter

6 cups of powdered sugar

1/8 cup of water

Red food coloring

Beat margarine or butter until soft and creamy. Sift powdered sugar and then beat into the margarine/butter a cup at a time until creamy. Beat in water and a few drops of food coloring until smooth. Will frost about 3 dozen cookies.

Yeah, I had to find the recipe when I saw that. They sound like a nice teacake type cookie

I posted since I couldn't save to my Ipad easily. Now I can find it if I decide to try them.

My granny and aunt used to make the best teacakes. Buttermilk ones if I remember right, and my aunt put a light coat of cocoa frosting & a pecan half on hers.

To be clear...

This web site is obviously conservative with an agenda. The term "Obama Food Police" is their inflammatory term and it is not based in fact, only in the fantasies of the web site and the people who believe their misinformation.

When a department of the US Federal Government acts, as in the USDA in this case, it is not doing so at the behest of the president of the United States and a "private" police force that the tin-foil hat crowd thinks he has at his beck and call. It is following the laws, rules, and procedures laid down and upheld by the 3 branches of the US government. We learned this in HS government class.

Maybe we should keep the politics out of our food on this site since many people here have very different political beliefs than the one's you might hold.

Well said. My comment WAS tongue-in-cheek...couldn't find an appropriate icon smileys/smile.gif
