Erin / Sandra - Did you go to the parade? I was 'near' it, could hear it, and saw

lots and lots of people wearing green. MIL, FIL, et al went to Avery to see a mini symphony. Was a hoot seeing all of the parade people. Saw plenty of people trying to walk straight lines. At one point I was on the West Side Highway at a light and a group of very friendly people in the 40s just casually came up to the car asking if we would be interested in driving them. We had the windows down. They happen to come to my side. I SCREAMED! Because I was not expecting it. They jumped back. Nice enough people, but there must have been lots of beer flowing! : ) Oh and our car was full, so have no idea what they were thinking! : )

Beautiful day in the city today!

My DIL and her brother took the grandkids to the parade today..

they LOVED it! Granddaughter is 3, little boy just a year. The bagpipes and drums were a huge hit. They were all decked out in green. One of these days I want to be in the city for St Patty's (my birthday). I just love all the green stuff!

Happy Birthday. My cousin's is today also. I never forget his because of the "holiday".

My very Irish and Catholic friend tells me that in Ireland St. Patrick's day is a solemn day of obligation and that you go to Mass. Her dad always calls her from over there and asks if she has been. She has a hard time explaining to him that the Catholic churches in Dallas aren't Irish Catholic and that none of them are celebrating it.

May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you're dead!

An old Irish birthday blessing.

I went to the Met so saw green dressed people all over but took a train up to Scarsdale at night and

it was the loudest fullest train ever. Mostly youth - they were very drunk but were trying to be very nice.

Funny you should ask... EvaN was in town, and she and I saw part of the parade from Tiffany's. smileys/wink.gif

The parade sort of disrupted lunch options, but we had a fantastic time talking and meeting in person! smileys/smile.gif Had I known you were going to be in town, I would have tried to set something up for all of us!

The people who came up to you in your car sound, frankly, horrifying. I was in Central Park in the afternoon, and it was wall-to-wall hordes. To be honest, I prefer St. Patrick's Day in NYC when it falls on a weekday...

I was at a wedding in Atlantic City that day...

Lots of drinking going on down there too, but no parade!
