Ethiopian-inspired spicy chicken stew

from Food 52 was delicious. Lots of spices (not hot, just flavorful), but I had them all in my spice cabinet. I only used 2 hardboiled eggs, but didn't miss them the second night. DH liked it so well he suggested saving the sauce and browning up a couple more thighs for a third meal (not in a row). I served it with rice and naan. Highly recommended!

This made me smile

remembering the early '80s at a newly opened Ethiopian restaurant in downtown Detroit, sitting on the floor at a long table with a lively crowd from work, sharing our first (and last smileys/wink.gif Ethiopian "feast." Colleen

This sounds delicious! Thanks. Did anyone else who attempted to print

/this out get stopped by a request to sign up to Facebook and other sites? I had to do a copy and paste into Word and even then it came out in code. I found my way around it but it was not the usual neat printing job. Came out on too many pages with stuff I had not highlighted.

When I taught classes, I did one with Doro Wat - if you don't have each & every spice>>

don't sweat it. You can omit one or two and it will still be amazing smileys/smile.gif

Most of these recipe sites want you to sign up to use the full functions, including printing.

They program the page to make it difficult to cut and paste, as you found out. If you highlight the info in sections to cut and paste, you can avoid getting all the extra "stuff" that gets automatically included when you try to cut and paste only certain text.

Sometimes it's easier to go ahead and make a login, then opt out of all the emails/newsletters, etc the site likes to send. You can make one directly for the Food52 site, without using Facebook/Twitter or whatever else they like to promote. I don't use Facebook, etc.

Doro Wat is one of my favorite things, and I make it at least once a year or so

I also love the gomen with cheese curds.

There is a little Ethiopian grocery on my way home and the man who owns it also does some catering. You can stop in and he will fix you a plate to go. No menu - you get what he gives you, but it is very good. Great for vegetarians too.

We have neighbors next door from Eritrea, which gained independence from Ethiopia 25 years ago.

They bring us their home cooking all the time, and this stew (their version) is one of our favorites.
