Day of the Dead bread, or Bread of the Dead. I posted the link to the recipe/picture of what it should look like above.
However, this dough was super soft/wet/sticky so was very difficult to shape the skull/bones. Plus, they started sliding off when proofing (photo) and slid so much in the oven it became unrecognizable.
In looking at her dough and mine, I sorta felt like she must've used stunt dough as hers looks so different!
However, the crumb came out great, almost brioche. I thought it was going to be too much sugar on top, but the bread isn't all that sweet, so the two taste nice together. I subbed the zest of a large cara cara orange + tsp of anise liquor for the orange blossom water. It has a pretty forward orange taste.
Had a big hunk with a cuppa tea this morning and it's tasty
