She's appearing at my new favorite restaurant Incanto in the Mission for a reading and booksigning. Such a fascinating story, check out the essay on her web page. It is rather complimentary to The Milagro Beanfield War that I'm currently reading, don't you think? Although I probably won't mention that to her, she might not appreciate it!

Also, really fun, at the booksigning is going to be a vintner I've been dying to meet, Will Bucklin of Old Hill Ranch vineyard. He's up in Sonoma and I've read about his place but never tasted his wine. He does something kind of unusual up there, his vineyard is not planted with a single varietal but rather predominantly Zinfandel with a bunch of other vines thrown in here and there. His wine is created from this "field blend" and is supposed to be delicious.

AND, the best part, the event being held at Incanto, the restaurant is making the appies...

Can you say yummy?
