I think I mentioned this before or on the blog, but I'm going off to help bake tomorrow with the guy I met on Twitter who is starting a bakery and is giving away free bread to practice his baking skills. Nice chappy and I offered to help him out when I'm not otherwise occupied. On the menu is to help him figure out how to make Dutch Crunch rolls and a bunch of other sandwich rolls for a local cafe that's giving his product a try. Fun huh!

It's like weird internet dating meeting people this way but so far everyone I have met have been completely delightful! Oh, and it's not dating mind you, just the process of meeting people like this reminded me of that whole dating thing! (Just felt I needed to clarify that - LOL)

If anyone has made Dutch Crunch rolls could you please share your recipe? I've done some internet searches and found a few recipes but they all seem to be the same. I'm curious to hear what people that I know have actually tried.

I think these may be the same as alligator rolls.

We used to have a department store that had them in the tea room and SOMEwhere I have the recipe. I will try to find it.

They are called leopard or tiger rolls in Holland - they have a wash of rice flour, sugar and yeast

over a soft roll. We used a white sourdough roll and they sure looked pretty. I didn't get a picture though, next time.... Wish I could have taken one home but they were for a customer. So much fun baking though, we made 24 loaves and I personally made 5 lbs of foccachia for a local cheese shop!
