Expect to be in the Berkshire area - any restaurant recommendations are appreciated. TIA NT

oh elaine! you don't need to put "NT" at the end - the system does it for you smileys/smile.gif

I do know this one--they used to have a smaller sandwich place downstairs - I wonder if that is ...

still around as well.

Hey Elaine, what kind of food and price range are you looking for? I live in the Berkshires

(Great Barrington area) and there is much to choose from. Where will you be staying and for how long?

Visiting my sister for the weekend in August. She just moved from Housatonic to Montclair (I think..

that is how you spell it. We are going to the
Wharton house on Friday night and I thought a
nice place in the area to eat would be fun.
Not ridiculously expensive but nice.
We are having a breakfast at the Roadside ? I
can't remember the exact name but it is always good.

Anything interesting. My sister doesn't eat out too often and I want to treat her. She is also a great cook.

Hey, I live in Housatonic! She is moving to Monterey, perhaps?

The Roadside Grill in Monterey is great for breakfast! The best pancakes. The Edith Wharton house is lovely. The Red Lion Inn is nice, as Cyn said. I have heard that Prime in Lenox is good (steak house), but pricy--I have not eaten there. There is also Cafe Zinc in Lenox. Betty's Pizza Shack has great pizza and a surf shack theme. More casual, of course! Be prepared to pay "summer in the Berkshires" prices at most places. Viva in Glendale (between Housatonic and the Norman Rockwell Museum) is also good. Spanish place w/tapas and paella. If you want more upscale, try Old Inn on the Green in New Marlboro. Very nice, pricey, but they are doing a prix fixe menu on Sundays, if you are going to be around then. You can get fabulous sushi (and tempura, noodles, etc) in Great Barrington at Bizen. Also heard that Allium in Gt. Barrington is good. Also a good mexican restaurant in GB, but can't spell it for the life of me: xichotachal...something with these letters! Hope I helped some. Places seem to come and go these days, as does quality--given the economy. Let me know how your visit turns out.

I will have to check with her and will let you know. Thanks for the tips - they sound good, I am ...

sure we will go for the more casual ones. I can save the others for a winter visit sometime.
