Family New Year's Eve Party Update

Just wanted to thank everyone for the help and recipes for our New Year's Eve party. We had 7 families total for over 30 people. I made pulled pork, hash brown casserole, coleslaw and baked beans. I stocked the bar with champagne, beer, wine and a non-alcoholic punch for the kids. Several neighbors brought appetizers so there was TONS of food. It turned out to be a great night.

When everyone arrived, the kids were given NYE party hats and glasses as well as assigned a number. In our lower level playroom, I assembled a bunch of art supplies and each kid made a noise maker as well as a sign on poster board with their assigned number. At "midnight" (8pm), we did a big countdown and all the kids paraded up the stairs and to the foyer where all the adults were gathered by number. They paraded with their sign and shaked their little noise maker wearing their hats and glasses. We got some terrific pictures.

I broke out, for the first time, the chocolate fountain and it was an enormous hit! I can't believe it worked. It wasn't nearly as messy as I anticipated although I did cover my brand new zebra wood table with several plastic tablecloths. I had all sorts of cut up fruit, peeps, marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers, oreos, caramels, candy canes, etc. The kids were mesmorized. The biggest issue was some chocolate on the floor but I managed to mop all that up in the morning.

So, thanks for all the help. People want to make it an annual thing.....

I don't think the kids were 'mesmorized', I think it's called 'sugar shock' *g* -- what FUN!

What a great party. I hope you don't mind hosting it every year, because your neighbors are going

to want to return for a repeat.
