Fan of Ina Garten? Terrific read.

Why yes, yes I am actually. The first cookbook that I bought of

hers has much of that story of her early life. I was fascinated that she and Jeffery worked in the government. But this story has more detail so thanks for the link

good read. I love Ina and I even love her Jeffrey. I didn't like the author's bashing of Martha

I didn't think it added anything to the article. And the thing about no pets----many episodes had her dogs in the kitchen or wandering the hallway. I think the author hasn't been a fan for very long.

Huge fan of Ina, she is a lovely person, down to earth, cooks and entertains sensibly

for the average cook and beginner to handle. I have all her books! Ina also has a pilots license. I don't know if she has kept it current, but she was licensed at one time.

Really unnecessary I thought. AND parts of this seemed to be lifted right

out of Wikipedia
where this was also quoted but left out of the article--
Office of Management and Budget and was assigned the position of budget analyst, which entailed writing the nuclear energy budget and policy papers on nuclear centrifuge plants for Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.(10)(11)
Somehow that doesn't sound exactly like a "bureaucrat".

I liked the article but did not get the negative references to Martha Stewart, unless

was it Martha who gave Ina her start on TV? I know she helped Rachel Ray get started....not sure about Ina. Article was about Ina anyway,,,,,bringing Martha into it with those remarks was strange and out of place.

I am not at all schooled on this, but I thought Oprah gave Rachel her break, also Dr. Oz and Dr.Phil

I could be completely wrong, but I did not think MS.... I actually am not aware of anyone tied to her name. Again, I am not schooled on this.

Rachel's 30 Minute Meals started in 2001. Oprah helped launch Ray's daytime TV show, which

started in 2005.

Rachael was really "found" by FoodTV as their person to identify with home cooks

after Emeril pretty much launched the network from the point of view of professional chefs.

She was discovered by a man name Lou Ekus. As he told me, he heard her on the radio. Vanity

Fair has the rest of the story, "Ray had cooked a 30-Minute jambalaya on a radio show and a man named Lou Ekus was in the area and heard it. He happened to be good friends with Bob Tuschman, the Food Network's senior vice president of programming. Ekus called Tuschman and Tuschman called Kiiffner, who told him he'd be able to see Rachael Ray on the upcoming Today show. It was a perfect storm of perfect timing.'

Lou does media training for chefs and nearly all the big names on the Food Network.

Wow, no wonder I like this lady so much....she is a worker, and she knows how to be a

team player. The way she entered her new shop and did not change a thing until she knew everyone's job and how things were done, is so right! I did it the same way years ago when I was hired by our local police dept. to develop their volunteer program. Let the people lead you.....
They did, I learned and it was a great experience for me.

I bet her employees loved her.
