Fascinating NPR interview on how we learn to eat and develop tastes.

Fun read Traca. When our babies could start on solid food, I got one of the baby food mills

and it sat on our table. Whatever we ate, I put small bites in that little mill and ground it up for our baby. We started with oatmeal, and certain veggies and fruits. Gradually to poultry....beef came much later. Our three ate everything.

Love that idea! I grew up eating everything. I loved pickled herring as a kid. smileys/smile.gif

Grandmother fed me bites of ham at Christmas when I was five months old

Mom said I refused all baby food after that. I loved everything when I was little, including smoked oysters & blue cheese.

Read "Kitchens of the Great Midwest" (2015) by Stradel

I just finished and loved it. The cover flap has this:
"Midwestern chef Lars Thorvald had three loves in this life - his kitchen, his wife, Cynthia, and his newborn daughter, Eva."
