It's: Los Chileros - from Albuquerque.

I got chili ancho &

chili molido

A reasonably new gourmet shop in the neighbourhood got some in and suddenly now everyone has it. I"ve only been looking for 20 years.

chili powder or powdered chile?

Marge, there are two different beasts. Chili powder is a combination that usually consists of chile, cumin, salt, powdered garlic and/or other things mixed with it. Chile Powder is chile that is unadulterated with the other spics, so that if you want to omit cumin, for example, you will be okay. That said, by reading your post, it seems that you have the real deals (I don't think anyone in Albuquerque sells the mix stuff. Look at your ingredients labels; they should indicate only chiles in the container. BTW, chili with an "i" on the end indicated the dish to which non-Texans add beans and Cincy folks serve over spaghetti. Chile with an "e" on the end refers to the chile pod itself. Ancho chiles are dried poblano chiles--they are falvorful and one of my favorites.

I put my glasses on and there it is......no dot over the 'e'.......ground chiles.

I knew I knew nothing but didn't know how much of nothing.

I too love poblanos. I can grow Anaheims in the hot summers here but that's the only way I can get them locally. And I have to have American friends bring me the seeds.

Thank you Mark. You gave me a good explanation and the answer I was hoping for.
