I love the cake. I love the lemon custard. I'm not convinced I love them together.
Very nice moist fine grained single layer almond cake. Not too sweet. Would be lovely with berries & cream or just a light layer of a chocolate glaze.
The lemon custard is lush, velvety, buttery & tart. Very, very good, but I think it overwhelms the nice little cake
It would make a great dessert sauce, and if you added a half cup more sugar and didn't add the butter it would make a fabulous lemon custard ice cream base. It would also make very fine little lemon tarts.
