First attempt at a cherry blossom (sort of) cake

You'll want to click on the image versus seeing it inside -

the inside pic is way to large and I don't know how to fix it:)

Bravo! Do you make your own fondant?

My other half is the Cakemeister and makes his fondant with a base of marshmallows. I don't care for fondant on cake and long for buttercream when we have these wild cake creations (R2D2 anyone) covered in fondant.

not at all

with modeling chocolate you simply wet it (with (room temp) water that had been boiled for safety reason) and it sticks!

I haven’t tried it yet because I’m not a fondant fan, But there’s a Swiss made brand...

That’s supposed to actually be good. It’s the type Maggie Austin uses for her cakes. It’s called masa Ticino tropic. The tropic version is the version that supposed to hold up well in the heat. It’s supposed to be a far cry from Satin ice and the like.

Oh, wow! Congratulations!

Deb! And I love the huge image for the close-up of your beauty smileys/wink.gif I've never had modeling chocolate but bet I would prefer it to fondant. Outstanding! Colleen

I much prefer modeling chocolate over fondant. I'm glad you left your large-sized pic out there be-

cause I would have missed the sprinkles or sparkles on your flowers otherwise. That cake is gorgeous, deb-in-MI!

That's gorgeous, Deb!

I am making a wedding cake for DD, and was concerned about decorating it, but having seen your lovely cake, I am inspired to use modeling chocolate instead of trying to deal with fondant and so on. And I may well copy your pretty flowers.smileys/smile.gif
