My traveling companion is on a tight budget, so we can't do anything expensive, but I know there must be a lot of good eats there. TIA everyone!

The Heartline was a favorite, but it's not cheap. I had an amazing burger at a place

That is across the street from the Big O tires place. Sorry I can't remember the name! It was a grill and bar, best bacon avocado burger and fries. We were on our Route 66 trip and were at a vorte,x four wheeling it, and started to get a flat tire! We made it off the mountain and to Big O, whew. They recommended the burgers so we went across the street and were so happy. This is not food related but there is an amazing potter in Sedona, Sedona Pottery, naturally, I love her mugs and plates. Robert Shields lives there, of the famous street mime troup Shields and Yarnell, he makes jewelry and it's gorgeous. It's sold at the Telaquepaque Resort gift shop, it's worth a look. It's so beautiful there, have fun!!

Heather, I looked at Yahoo maps and these places are around Big O Tires... does this ring a bell?

Spent a week there...on a budget...hope these help!

The school district paid for some...we paid the rest. My roomie was a diabetic, and what they fed us for lunch was carbs, carbs and more carbs. We were more into seeing Sedona than seeing carbs!

Blue Moon Cafe - Extremely reasonable, but may also be the best "real" food we found, sadly, the last day. Not pretentious.

Rene at Tlaquepaque - Not cheap, but at least you can see why the prices are what they are. Nice reviews too.

I've eaten at Joey's Bistro...It's nice, Italian...I'd choose Rene's over Joey's for a big night out. I've also been told the Cafe up at the Airport is decent, and you pass one of the Vortex site going up there.

Your best bet is to check out your surroundings where you are when you start feeling hungry! If you're going Vortex hunting...it might be better to visit a deli (there's a Safeway on Hwy 89 toward Cottonwood) and pick up lunch-ables. Remember that Sedona is very spiritual, and very "healthy" and plan accordingly! I'd go back in a heart-beat!

Thanks for the good ideas Glennis! I definitely want to take out lunches to go as we sightsee

Besides the usual touristy places, was there anything you did (or wanted to do) that might not be in the guidebooks?

What area did you think had the best "red rock views"?
