"FK Recommends" - Anyone want to contribute?

Hi all. I know that some of you have purchased from FK in order to support the site (thank you!!) I'm in the process of upgrading the category pages to be a little more attractive and helpful. In each category (such as "bakeware") I'd like to feature a product with a short review - just a sentence or two.

If anyone would like to continue to support FK and contribute to this little effort, please just PM me with the name of the product you ordered and your review.

Clearly I can't feature products that have bad reviews (I hope there aren't many of those!) but I will take those into account in deciding what products to feature, if you have anything negative to report.

Thanks guys!

Hi, Mimi. I'll be glad to when I order something...

It's literally been years since I bought a new kitchen toy. The last thing was an immersion blender about 3 years ago. (I blow my $ on cookbooks!) Will let you know when I make a purchase...

Count me in as well. I will try to support FK at every opportunity. I know...

...there are folks who are passionate about free sites on the internet. I remember a string on the old board that included a few strong arguments against paying to play over on epi.

We have a Godsend here at Finer Kitchens. I plan to support them with purchases whenever I can. It is a tangible way to say 'thanks' for providing us a truly welcoming and friendly place to meet and share.

I would encourage anyone who agrees to do the same, whenever possible.

Michael

I'd love to support Finer Kitchens, too, but the postage is extremely prohibitive.....

Just looked at ordering a soy milk maker, as I've been looking at one. The price was good ($99.95), but the shipping was over $30.00!!

Free shipping for orders over $75.00 available to the contiguous USA only - boo!

Oh well, I didn't need it anyway...

Yeah, living in Canada I can relate. Shipping is free or reasonable in the 48 contiguous states.

Just thought I'd point that out in case anyone who didn't read your whole post thought that postage was extremely prohibitive everywhere!

For orders under $75, FK charges the normal UPS rate for wherever you live. Over $75 shipping is free if you live in the contiguous US. If you live outside of the 48 contiguous states and have an order over $75, again it's the normal UPS rate. There's no handling fee or anything. We get the postage rate right from a direct linkup with UPS that calculates the shipping by weight and destination.

Been trying to get them to add USPS for years with no success. :eek:/

Unfortunately it is what I found too- the postage to Hawaii is prohibitive

I looked at an item a while back and was going to buy it until I saw what postage was being charged to those of us outside the contiguous 48. It just seems unfair that free postage is offered to 48 states and outrageous postage offered to us (and everyone outside the US)

We are used to paying high shipping costs because everything we get in Hawaii must be shipped via boat or air but there are lower costs for shipping certain ways. If "free" is offered to folks in the contiguous 48, shouldn't those of us also in the US (and others outside) at least get a heavy discount on shipping???

It's a trade-off for business reasons (between using USP vs USPS)

while USPS rates are cheaper, they don't provide true tracking for ground service like UPS does.

I wonder if they've had any complaints about the brokerage fees incurred when using UPS for international customers?
