Flavor Spray by David Burke.... anyone tried this??

This sounds like a good product - since smell is such a big part of food.www.flavor-spray.com

Interesting, but my first thought is one can do a lot of these things with spices and herbs, along

with citrus and other flavors. I find a small amount of oil goes along way adding taste and texture. And we do need some good fat in our diet.
On the other had, they are not real expensive and several of the recipes sound sort of good.
Texture is also a big part of food and that would be missing somewhat?
Think I'll do a search to see what reviews are out there.
Thanks,
Nan

Whoa!

First off, you keep saying "this" and "it" as if it were a single product. It's not. It's a whole line of them (35 and counting), and, even if they work, you need a whole shelf of them to replace (or supplement) the flavors you get from your spice rack, fresh herbs, and extracts.

Second, I disagree with Nan. They are not cheap; not at six bucks a throw. Even a modest number of flavors, say a dozen, adds up to $72. That buys a lot of real spices and flavorings. Buy all 35 and you're talking more than 200 bucks.

And third, they apparently don't work as advertised. Not unless you really super-saturate your food with them.

Me, I'll stick to real foodstuffs. There are enough chemicals in our lives as it is.

KY you are correct, when I read the first link, I saw them as fairly inexpensive as all the sweet

ones, to me looked gross! Don't take away my truffle every day or so! The pesto and one or two of the others for pasta looked interesting; but, my first thought (again before searching for reviews) was these things are not high carb or calorie and the fat is good olive oil.
But you have to remember I am a self-indulgent little old single woman. Just paid $25 + shipping for fennel pollen, and love it. I do charities, but sometimes feel a bit guilty at my food and wine bills.
And, after reading reviews, my thoughts were still, what the hell are they replacing?
Thanks for your feedback,
Nan

Did you see reviews on them somewhere?? All I've read are rave reviews.

The single product line is called Flavor Spray, but yes, they do have many flavors of said product.

I am often away and DH doesn't cook.... he wouldn't know dill from oregano anyway. He was interested in this because he could throw some lettuce in a bowl and spritz it without all the added fat, sugars, etc. I wouldn't use them, but hey... it's still healthier than going out for a Big Mac.

The idea is the aroma - like aromatherapy - will make your body think it's eating bacon...etc.

They were developed to....

give those with very restricted diets a bit of flavor in their food.
I encountered these aty the Fancy Food Show last July in NYC. They are incredible for adding flavor to bland foods, for those who have such restricted intake that flavor is almost non-existent.
They were not intended to add to a regular diet.
