Phil Vettel, the restaurant critic of the Chicago Tribune, had a review of Dave Burke's Primehouse, a new steakhouse in today's paper. After dutifully commenting on the food and menu, Phil went on to wax poetic regarding the deccor of the restaurant, describing the leather topped tables, leather banquettes, etc. Pay close attention to the wrap-up sentence:
"The dining room is contemporary and neutral, the cream walls trimmed with dark wood. Tables are covered with pebbled leather, putting me in mind of a steamrollered basketball, and spacious booths are clad in soft leather as well. In other words, dead cows provide the decor as well as the food."
What a great line!!
Maybe we should start a thread of great food quotes. I have several.
