Food Remedies- Do they Work or Old Wives Tales? Here are mine

My source of conversation today was food remedies: My Professor had lost her voice last Friday and it had been growing steadily worse. I offered her a food remedy:

Frozen Minute Maid Lemonade with pulp and told her it should bring back her voice. Drink several glasses (make as tart as want and or water it down- doesn't matter)

My mother use to use the frozen lemonade with pulp for laryngitis and it works, don't know how it just does so I offered it. Well it worked for her too.

Another: Table Black Pepper (ground) to rid of ants: it works, sprinkle black pepper on an ant trail and or ant hill, and with in a day or two they are gone.

I was curious if anyone else has food remedies that work- I will be curious to read everyone's remedy.

Home Made Cough Medicine

This really works. Take it at the first sign. It has even stopped a cold or cough when taken when I first notice it coming on.

HOME MADE COUGH MEDICINE
5 min 5 min prep

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons water

Mix ingredients.
Take by the teaspoon as often as needed for cough.
Do not give to infants under 12 months due to the honey (though I doubt you could get them to take it anyway!).

For laryngitits: Slice some fresh lemons and boil them in water - pulp, skin, and all. Mash pulp

into water as it separates from rind, and boil until infused well. Pour everything but rind into mugs with some honey. Drink and breathe in fumes. Works!

Ginger tea for stomach problems-I love Celestial Seasonings Honey Peach Ginger- very soothing on the

stomach - nice, strong ginger taste.

1 tsp of white table sugar had never failed to cure hiccups for me....

I've told many other people and it really seems to work for about everyone. (maybe not if you have one of those cronic cases that lasts for months...ha)

Anyway, at least it doesn't taste bad! You simple put it in your mouth, let it dissolve somewhat and swallow.

That's it!

Archway coconut macaroons for diarrhea. Has helped some people with Chrone's disease. Papaya for

stomach pain.

Glad you both got a kick out of this smileys/smile.gif Even *I* laughed and I've been in a bad mood all day.

Your Chocolate Majesty one question: what is your favorite chocolate- you & my sister Joanellen have

to meet, I thought she was the most chocolate person I knew, but I have to say, you are, chocolate hands down.

I know, I use this remedy all the time, as you well know.smileys/smile.gif

Unfortunately, I forgot to take my dose today.
