Food Saver Dilemma

My brand new Food Saver of only 6 months gave up. Amazon will not take it back as it is past the return date. I cannot get through to Food Saver, keep getting a message that they are overwhelmed at the moment with calls.

I have been doing research and found a lot of comments that the company has been purchased by someone else and they do not care. I also read that the older ones are much better and lasted longer than the new ones.

Does anyone have experience with any of the other brands, how they hold up and customer service? I use my Food Saver almost everyday and miss it so much. Thanks

I think the chances are you can repair it yourself. Look online for questions about

what isn't working on yours.
Sometimes it is the channel that has gotten something in it, etc. I haave had 3 or 4 --the one that was them most wonky was the one with all the bells and whistles--tubes, etc. I went back to the one that just sucks, so to speak.
Does it not make a seal?
I don't know of any better but maybe there are--I would definitely wait for customer service rep--or do it yourself.

Won't do anything. I really like it because it is fast and quiet. What I like the least

is that you have to be sure to hold the bag taunt and curve it down just right for it to engage. Other than that, all it is doing when I turn on is to show a read light on the seal bar,. I cannot make any bags nor can I seal anything. It is silent. My channel is clean and so are the gaskets.

Does the sealer work? You do have to use enough bag to get it into the

channel and it has to be flat over the sealing bar. You can't skimp on the bag size, and the bag can be reuused, so making it large isn't a "loss".
Do you have it on the right setting--seal? Just checking all the boxes.

Yes, yes, and yes. I have been using Food Saver for many years and have

not had any trouble until the past two units. Last one lived for three years, this last one for six months. Today, we went to Costco and were told they are carrying a new design which has a five year limited warranty. I like the features of this model.
We are still working on the broken one, and if we manage to get it fixed or replaced, we will have a backup.

I suggest taking it apart down to the channel, etc. and putting it back together.

Sort of like "rebooting". Maybe a tube got dislodged or some such.
