I am a little sensitive since we were staying with a good friend, who works as a scientist, but commented one night during what we considered an ordinary conversation that she had never imagined that she would be talking about math at the dinner table. So I've started flagging points of potential boredom to others with comments like 'for engineers'. Apologies to all non-engineers, it's not you, it's me.
