Interesting that you should post this recipe.

I just got through printing an email from Lee Kum Kee that contains a recipe for Turnip Rice Four Cake.
It's essentially the same as the one you posted, but after steaming the cake, it's cut into squares and pan fried until slightly browned.
I thought it looked like a fun thing to try!

 
I had this at a dim sum place in Boston many years ago. I finally found a recipe for it which was

way more complicated than this and took many steps. I've not made it again. this one has the same ingredients but is much simpler. thanks

 
REC: Turnip Rice Flour Cake

1 oz. dried shrimp
1 oz. cilantro, chopped
2 whole turnips. peeled & grated, cook in 8 oz. water until tender
6 pieces dried shiitake mushrooms, soaked, stems removed, finely diced
5 oz. Chinese sausage, cut into small pieces
8 oz. rice flour, mixed with 1 cup water to form a batter
4 tablespoons cooking oil
1 green onion, chopped
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic

Directions-
1. Saute minced garlic in 2 T oil. Add shrimp, mushrooms, and sausage. Cook for 3 minutes.
2. Combine cooked turnip into rice flour batter.
Add sauteed shrimp mixture into the batter and mix well.
4. Pour the batter into a greased square baking pan. (no size given) Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top.
5. Steam turnip rice flour cake for 30 to 45 minutes, until cooked.
6. Slice into squares and pan fry in remaining 2 T oil until golden brown. Garnish with green onions.
Serve with oyster sauce and chili garlic sauce.
Serves 8.
