For those lucky enough to find peppadews in the jar...pickled beets.

When the peppadews were gone, I cut some roasted beets in wedges and put them in the jar with the liquid. Let them set a day or two, delicious.

Sounds interesting. I just found these--actually bought them

for roasted peppers. They are delicious. I think would be VERY good on panini.

I learned about them on the swap, I think first from Joanie. They're from South Africa.

I found some at BJ's and bought several jars. My sister loved them so much when she visited, I gave her one jar to take home with her. They are addictive and worth seeking out if you can find them. I saw them in an Italian deli/meat market recently. Click on the link to read about them.

Now THAT is a wonderful idea...I suddenly love beets as I have them in the garden....

for the first time and that is what I'll do to them.
Funny how I've grown to like certain foods when I've actually grown and picked them ultra fresh. Makes all the difference in the world.

Several of the grocery stores here are selling them in bulk (m)

with olive bars etc. Whole Foods sells them in bulk (by the pound) also. I use them quite often in a variety of sandwiches and salads.

Oh wait, hold on......

I vaguely remember being in a few stores that have salad bars and bowls of olives at other sort of stands...is this what you mean by "olive bar"
when I've been into these supermarkets (hardly ever actually) I am so in awe at all the displays can't really remember them in detail....was in the States last at a supermarket about 3 years ago....business trips don't allow time for food shopping.

They have an area with pans of all kinds of olives, roasted peppers, (m)

pepperdews etc. The ones I have seen are in the deli areas of the stores. Does this help you??

Yip...I remember...

The best supermarket here has just recently started a salad bar. No mixed salads just the various fruit and veg cut up. Very ordinary.....I haven't been off island shopping for groceries in so long...I really do think it's time to travel for a vacation, not work.
