For those of you who serve, have served, have loved ones who serve or have served our country:

My little cockles were warmed today by the throngs of people all strolling to the parliament grounds

this morning to take part in the Remembrance Day services, all wearing their poppies. I live in a Navy city so there were so many uniformed officers as well.

Sad

thanks Steve. I sit here at work on Elmendorf AirForce Base. it's very quiet today. I thanked the

guards at the gate when I drove in. good day for reflection and gratefulness.

A big thank you, just took down my flag. Watched HBO's Band of Brothers today

and am currently mopping up the eye leakage. Made me think of my Dad and all the others who served.

A poignant Veterans Day this year, my stepfather passed away somewhere around 11 am/11:30 am.

During World War II he was aboard a liberty ship, while his identical twin was in the navy. Ken had flat feet, but he wanted to serve, and the merchant sailors were the only options available to him. He was a wonderful man, and suffered a lot during the last year when he was diagnosed suddenly with dementia and declined so quickly. It would be very poetic if he had passed at 11:11 am on November 11, It was right around that time. My mom is doing really well, I think she was mentally prepared for this, she's remarkably strong woman. I'm so relieved that he passed away in his sleep, peacefully, had home, next to my mom who he loved so dearly.

Oh Heather...I am so sorry for your loss. Some diseases

are harder on the families than the actual person going through them. My loving thoughts are with you and your family.
