For you folks with lemon trees, regular lemons like Eureka or Lisbon

We picked some this morning. Many are larger than any orange I have ever seen and are ROUND! Anyone else ever had this happen?

Just did a bit of research and found out Eureka lemons can be grafted onto Pomelo rootstalk

So what I have is a sucker that escaped our attention on one side of the tree, and I have a cross between a lemon and a Pomelo. Huge thing larger than any orange I have ever seen with bumpy skin. I will cut into it later today and see what has happened inside.

I've had round Meyers before. Just happens sometimes.

Aren't Meyers always round? They aren't widely available here as they

would be in CA but ours are pretty round usually as opposed to the elongated lemons.

Did you know that Meyers are not a true lemon but a cross between a lemon and a mandarin?

We have both a Eureka and Bearss lemon tree...

and have found that the Eurekas are larger this year than last. The Bearss are the same size.

Small/less mature tend to be more round, but many have the same lemon shape. Just smoother skin.

Hence the reason they are sweeter and less acidic (good to keep in mind for acid-required recipes)
