Three layers (1/2" thick) 9" diameter vacuumed sealed. I'm going to use it as the base for a tiramisu-ish shower cake for a gal at work. She loves anything mousse-y and this will do for the work sharing portion. Her and hubby wanted a German chocolate cake for their wedding, but didn't choose that option because a coworker close to her doesn't like coconut.
Personally, I thought that was a CRAZY reason NOT to have the wedding cake of your dreams, but I digress...
Anyway, she's getting a tall 6" layer of German chocolate cake from me for her and fiancé to share and the bottom tiramisu to share here.
The package cost $5.99, which was worth the price alone not to have to cut 3 perfectly level layers. Plus the layers will be saturated in sugary booze and filled with cloying heavy cream and chocolate, so the sponge cake flavor may not be that noticeable.
Nonetheless...has anyone ever used this product? What did you think?
