fp - replace bowl or buy whole new one?

The bowl on my relatively old but still functioning KA food processor broke yesterday. I glued it and it appears to be holding. As far as I can tell, the motor is fine and the blade is still plenty sharp. It holds 11 cups and has generally been large enough. A new bowl costs about $100 including shipping. I can't decide if I should replace the bowl or start shopping for a whole new unit. What do you think? Do you either love or hate a recently purchased fp?

I had that happen on my 20 year old Cuisinart. Bought a replacement

bowl on ebay for about $50 and my Cuisinart then lasted me another 10 years before the motor gave out just last year. Was gifted with a used older model Cuisinart by a friend who upgraded to a newer bigger model so I can't speak to the newer models myself but I was happy not to have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new one at the time.

Be careful. My 30-year old Cuisinart bowl size changed ever so slightly...which

meant the two TOP pieces wouldn't fit any longer if I bought the new replacement bowl >> I would have had to buy 3 separate parts.

So I checked around at thrift shops and found a used one with all the parts for $50. It (and I measured it) is exactly 1/16" larger in diameter than my original and the blades are pathetically thinner. Plus the blade stems are not removable, which means they aren't interchangeable. So I can't use the extra blades I bought for my original.

Poor engineering for the sake of saving a bit.

Can you look elsewhere for a bowl--I replaced mine YEARS ago for

about $30.
Depending on the size, you can get a new one for not much more than that--

I am an ebay virgin

The link was for a Cuisinart and I have a KA but as long as I was there I searched and there is a used KA with no bids @79 and buy it now for 125 (whatever that means!). Guess I'll try to learn a little about ebay.
