FRC: Baking cookies on the car dashboard (Link for news article)

It's basicly a solar oven....

And I think it would depend on how hot outside it was at the time. You could put a thermometer inside and adjust accordingly.

I've never done it but would if we ever had a power outage for any length of time in the summer. (if I lived though the heat!)

When I was a kid the local newspaper fried eggs on the sidewalk. I have always remembered that.

Never tried it myself, but I once heard about warming leftovers on your...

car engine while driving. "It's all warmed up and ready to eat when you get there", they claimed!!?!

Isn't there a cookbook called "Manifol Destiny?" It's about cooking/heating stuff. . .

on the exhaust manifold of your car. Take a trip and you have a hot meal when you get there--if you are careful. If you are not careful you'll be licking the hot meal off the engine!

There is such a thing Gayle,

My Dad's patented invention, the solar oven. It's lightweight and has a carrying handle. I took it to the beach at the Jersey shore last year and cooked up some hot dogs for we beach bums. Years ago my older brother and I cooked up some meat pies on a big hill in the Scottish highlands.

Of course, unless the sun is shining, you'll have to starve - lol!

No, I'm not soliciting – besides, they’re hand made, not mass marketed, and my Dad’s too old and can’t be bothered making any more. But I’ll sell you mine for $$$$$$ - hee-hee. Any investors out there???

Yes, I know! Wow, how cool is that about your dad! smileys/smile.gif

I'd love to have one! I do have the directions/diagram for making one, though. Never did get around to doing it, but it could be oh, so handy.

I read on the net all kinds of stuff about it and it intrigued me back in the 90's.

That's interesting, Sandy! Thanks for the info!

Yeah, isn't that a hoot! Small world....

Thanks for the PM. (I replied) I'll get back with you on it when I find the info that is in storage.

Hello to Dad! smileys/smile.gif
