I wanted to share our two (okay 3) fun food adventures in New York City. If you visit, you should try to drop by "Rice to Riches" on Spring Street downtown in Little Italy. Amazing variations on rice pudding - all equally yummy.
We headed out from RtoR towards Chinatown right about lunch time and turning onto Mott Street, we saw a long line of people snaking out the door of what turned out to be (as we got closer to see the sign) Parisi Bakery. I thought of Seinfeld! My husband and I had no idea what the people were waiting for (okay, I was hoping for cake) so we got in line, too. We ended up with the most incredible (huge) sub sandwich made with hot sopresseta, prosciutto, mozzarella and spiced roasted red peppers (variations limited by your imagination) - for $8 and it was easily more than enough for two people.
And my 3rd favorite food was the egg sandwich with mayo in a kaiser roll from the 47th Gourmet Deli on 47th between 6th and 7th Aves. I don't understand it but the kaiser takes the egg and mayo to a whole 'nother level! Colleen
