FRC: For those of you who ask about Andrew- He emailed me and said Bruni of the Times had been in

cynupstateny

Well-known member
several times. The review of Gramercy Tavern is in today's paper and they were given 3 stars!! He said after closing there was a big party for staff, friends and family. Colicchio and Meyers were both there. Food served: Fresh oysters, roast beef sanswiches with ramp aioli, pickled cippolini and watercress, rabbit sausage sandwiches, tiny chocolate cupcakes and strawberries and chocolate. All washed down with, naturally, champagne. Wish I lived a bit closer and could have driven down!http://events.nytimes.com/2007/06/06/dining/reviews/06rest.html?ref=dining

What a great review. I must have missed the previous discussion. Cyn...do you know Andrew?

He's my nephew. Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wesleyan U with a degree in

philosophy but loves to cook. Spent a year in Italy cooking for free where he could. Worked for a while cooking in Brooklyn, then quit and toured S.E. Asia for about 3 months. Now he's cooking at Gramercy and still loves it.
Thanks for asking, Traca. Some of the folks on the board have followed him from the start and I post about him once in a while.

Yowza! That's awesome...and turning around a restaurant is no easy feat. Kudos to Andrew!!!

I've been working as a publicist in the restuarant biz for the last year...and have had a close eye on Danny Meyer and his operations. That guy is an amazing businessman. I'd be curious to hear what Andrew thinks of him. (Viewing someone from 36,000 feet is definitely not the same as working with them!)

By the way, if you want to see my handiwork...check out the June issue of Bon Appetite. In the Seattle spotlight...that's one of the projects I've worked on for the past year. And I just learned the PNW episode of Tony Bourdain's "No Reservations" is being aired again. That's another project I worked on...(I pitched that show, actually.)
